Yoga has been practiced by ancient mystics and philosophers for thousands of years. Most people who hear the word yoga immediately think that this particular activity is simply a way to increase flexibility. In reality however, yoga offers so many more health benefits. Aside from its weight loss properties, yoga is also known to offer certain preventative medicine properties. There are different kinds of health benefits of yoga. Usually, the benefits received from a type of yoga depend on the kind of yoga a person is practicing. One of the kinds of yoga that is gaining in popularity thanks to its health benefits is laughter yoga. Yoga is often credited with physical benefits such as better flexibility, stable heart rate, toned muscle and increased stamina. In yoga sessions and class, people are taught to stretch their muscles so that they can be agile and flexible.

Fitness is the key to keep you healthy every day. Healthy lifestyle means a healthy diet and exercise. To achieve a healthier lifestyle you probably will need personal training programs, nutrition tips, spa services, aerobics, outdoor recreation for example - tennis, basketball, softball, walking trails. A lot of programs are planned to give you a total body and mind for your fitness goals. I have made some research in this topic and have gathered some tips here: To keep you in fitness it is not necesarry to spend a lot of time. In general it can be even less than 60 minutes a day. Walking a few meters more from your car to the door and back is an easy way to exercise. But don't do it in a dark parking lot. Exercise gives you increased stamina, energy and keeps fit your heart. Exercise Guidelines for Losing Weight 1. Short and intense beats long and easy All that long distance jogging and other things don't do much for weight loss. Maybe you realize that, maybe you don't. For the amount of time people put into that stuff, they sure don't get much in return. Say for instance jogging. In the UK Jamie Oliver has been fighting hard to ensure the Government and parents alike are aware of bad diets can have on child obesity. This article will help a little more with the facts.
The child obesity epidemic and the dangers of childhood obesity are at the forefront of many health professionals discussion groups. The reason for this is the long lasting psychological and physical effects that children have to endure. It's hard enough that they have to deal with the extra weight but not being able to participate in as many activities as the other kids affects them emotionally. What we don't see is their deep seeded pain. Our first action in dealing with childhood obesity is a physical one. We want to help them look better. It is presumed that if they look better they will naturally feel better. This is true in many cases. As ... more » Wednesday, November 5

The Future is Bright For Teeth WhiteningBy Jason Scott EdworthyOver the last few year years the teeth whitening industry in the UK has seen some changes as technology and customer perception changes. This changes have been for the positive as consumers now benefit from a better quality service at a lower price. Exercises for Resistance Bands Keep the Road Warrior Fit by Mike Porter I love the open road. It calls me everyday. Perhaps, I should say the open sky, instead. I get up at 5:50 am, say a quick prayer and find myself on a plane to New Jersey, or Miami, or Wichita. I have so many frequent flyer miles, I could own stock in American Airlines. I give them away as gifts whenever possible because I know I will never run out. It is a hard life at times, but I love every minute of it. Even when I am stationed at home, I am thinking about where I am going next and how soon I can get out to do it. Most of my colleagues have subsequently put on a little weight over the years, because you just can't find ... more » Saturday, November 1

Notice that every time you visit a doctor's office, hospital, clinic, or any other health related place, they always begin by checking your blood pressure. Have you ever wondered why?
High blood pressure or hypertension, also known as the "silent disease" or the "silent killer" is the measure of the blood's pressure against the wall of the arteries as the heart pumps. Many people walk around every day with dangerously high blood pressure without ever knowing it because often times there are no symptoms for weeks, months, or even years. But high blood pressure is a dangerous condition and complications can be very serious. You see, as the heart pumps the blood through the walls of arteries that have lost their elasticity, the heart has to work much harder to push the blood through them. Because the blood needs to go through every organ in the body as well, the ... more » Wednesday, October 29

The Basics of YogaYoga was developed in India at least three thousand years ago, and is a discipline that uses breath control, meditation and physical exercises. There are number of things about yoga that make it particular appealing, chiefly because it helps to promote mental and physical well being. The purpose of the philosophy and technique is to achieve a heightened awareness, and ultimately, to attain spiritual enlightenment. First, there are some basic principals about yoga that are an integral part of its teachings. These come mainly from the Bhagavad Gita, which is one of the primary religious texts outlining ways to achieve liberation from one’s worldly worries and desires. There are many different types of yoga, and one of the most popular forms in the West is hatha yoga, which focuses on strengthening, toning and relaxation. Like most of us we struggle to balance work, family and gym life.
This normally means that when we are very busy the gym workout gets missed and then we get miserable! With most gyms open at 6am to 10pm Monday to Fridays and 8am to 8pm at weekends all we really need to do is plan better and be flexible when we undertake our workouts. more » Sunday, October 26

It seems that you can’t pick up a paper or turn on the TV without hearing something about the current worldwide economic downturn. While the effects of this crisis are widespread, for those of us interested in muscle growth and getting stronger it is even more pronounced. I doubt many will argue that the pursuit of more muscle mass and strength is a pursuit of excess.
To achieve your goals you need more weight, more sleep, and of course, more food. But with everyone tightening-up their budgets and with food prices already soaring well in advance of this latest economic downturn, we need to see what we can do to make our goals compatible with our paychecks. First and foremost is to cut-out the unnecessary. Here are three places where you can trim some costs without sacrificing your gains. 1. Supplements Sure, you may like that NO supplement or the ... more »

One of the keys to being successful in any fitness plan, is to remove as many obstacles as possible. Pushups are a great way to increase your level of success in your workout plan because you can do them at your convenience and you do not have to go to a gym.
You can do pushups in the morning before you go to work, on your lunch break, or when you get home from work. There are absolutely no restrictions because you do not have to drive, or bus, to a gym, or wear workout attire. Having used pushups as the core of my workout for years, this has personally been the greatest benefit. While the gym is a great place to go, it requires too much time and consistent effort to make a long-term commitment or achieve long-term success. Knowing as you do that Yoga can give you a perfect figure, you have made this your main reason for pursuing the subject. I assure you this is no worse a reason for beginning the study of Yoga than any other. There cannot really be a bad reason for wanting to do something good, and though Yoga offers much in the way of a peaceful and healthy existence, your main concern at this stage, anyway, is how to get that pad of fat off your hips and reduce that bulging tummy. So be it. I will show you the way and as you learn more and more of Yoga perhaps eventually your reason for studying it will be a more spiritual one.

When it comes down to physical activity getting started is the worst part. People are often reluctant because they are afraid of failure and disappointment. A lot of people expect to lose weight quickly and to keep it off; however, that is not usually the case. Weight loss is a slow and steady process that is why it is important to set realistic goals. For instance, you shouldn’t expect to lose 5 pounds in 5 days- that is nearly impossible.
Set goals that you can attain. Knowing that one pound of fat equals 3,500 calories make yourself a realistic table of just how much you want to lose. For instance, if you want to lose 1 pound each week, you need to cut out 500 calories from your daily diet. Once you have figured out how much you want to lose, you next question may be how much physical activity ... more » Wednesday, October 15

Heart Rate Training is an effective tool for building both your cardiovascular capacity, your ability to train at higher levels of intensity, increase the effectiveness of energy usage and increasing your overall health.
Monitoring your heart rate to train in different heart rate zones is key to this technique. When in a periodization schedule, you follow a cyclic pattern of training in different zones to target each energy system. In order to best utilize your training time when cycling indoors (commonly known as Spinning®), you need to know your heart rates, resting and maximum. With this information, you can derive your heart rate zones. You maximum heart rate is genetically determined and does not truly fluctuate in adults that drastically. Only with increasing age and living a sedentary lifestyle will your maximum heart rate drop. But, since the max heart rate is unique to your body chemistry and composition, it ... more » Tuesday, October 14

You cannot go anywhere, read or watch anythnig these days without having the latest diets rammed down your throat and after a while it gets a little boring.
Fat diets and miracle diet pill advertisements are all over the place these days- television, magazines, newspapers, and especially the internet. Unfortunately due to busier lifestyles, the overwhelming number of fast food restaurants, and lets face it... pure laziness... as a society we are getting fatter. Due to those same busy schedules, people are looking for a quick fix; an easy and fast way to lose weight without a lot of effort or time required. Plenty of people have found ways to capitalize on this weight loss infatuation by selling bogus diet programs and products with no documented medical benefits. Even worse that are the diet pills that go unregulated because they claim to have natural herbals which do not have to be tested by the FDA. Not only do they not promote weight loss, but they can also have unexpected side effects or reactions because they have not been tested. Often with these diet pills and natural supplements, they explode on the scene with expansive marketing campaigns, sell millions, and then disappear just as fast once people realize that they don't really work. You also have the extreme end of the supplement line, such as Ephedrine, which can actually result in complications and death. Taking these weight loss pills can have devastating results, as in the case of Ephedra. Even some of the crazy diet fabs that suggest just eating one type of food for a week, or only drinking juice every day can be dangerous. While they may lead to some immediate weight loss, in the long run they actually result in gaining more excess body fat. So if fad diets and diet pills don't work, what are the options? Study after study shows that the only way to lose weight and keep it off is a fundamental change in your diet and regular exercise. Most people rely on what manufacturers tell them about the products they are selling, to determine if a particular food product is healthy or not. This is one of the biggest mistakes that people often make when trying to lose weight. So-called health bars can actually lead to additional weight gain! Most people also try to cobble together their own workout program at the gym, which only leads them to disappointment and frustration when they don't see results. Without proper guidance, the average person will not see the results they are looking for and will just end up spending excess time in the gym. Proper guidance is out there if you really look for it. I found a great program that not only gave me a workout program that I could use in and outside of a gym, but it also gave with a nutritional guideline that helped change my eating habits. It is a book called The Truth About Abs (don't be fooled by the name). While it does show you how to get a slim waste with ripped abs, it is much more than that. The author is a certified nutritional specialist and certified personal trainer, so he combines the best of both worlds. The program showed me how to not only lose the weight, but it also showed me how to keep it off. There are plenty of other programs similar the one that I used, but it may require some research. Before you decide to take the easy way for a temporary solution to your weight loss needs, put some research into a program that combines a balance of diet and exercise. Tuesday, September 30
