View Article  Credit Crunch Guide to Health and Fitness
It seems that you can’t pick up a paper or turn on the TV without hearing something about the current worldwide economic downturn. While the effects of this crisis are widespread, for those of us interested in muscle growth and getting stronger it is even more pronounced. I doubt many will argue that the pursuit of more muscle mass and strength is a pursuit of excess.

To achieve your goals you need more weight, more sleep, and of course, more food. But with everyone tightening-up their budgets and with food prices already soaring well in advance of this latest economic downturn, we need to see what we can do to make our goals compatible with our paychecks.

First and foremost is to cut-out the unnecessary. Here are three places where you can trim some costs without sacrificing your gains.

1. Supplements
Sure, you may like that NO supplement or the ...   more »
View Article  Using your home as an effective gym
Call them fitness centers, health clubs or whatever terminology
you choose, they have come a long way in the past decade. Some
are glamorous and high tech; some are comfortable and low-key.
There would seem to be an atmosphere for everyone. But in truth,
many people have valid reasons why they would rather not go to
the gym. For them, a home gym is a much more attractive way to
get in their daily or weekly exercise. Fortunately, setting up a
home gym can be a fun experience that doesn’t have to cost a
fortune or require a degree in fitness education.

There are many rural communities that do not have a public gym.
Or there is only one and it is always soooo busy. Some people
can’t afford the membership and others just aren’t comfortable
working out in front of anyone else. For many people it is a
matter ...   more »

View Article  Nintendo help children keep active and fit

With so much talk in the press about obesity in children due to a lack of fitness one company is helping the balance between a childs fitness and video games.

The Nintendo Wii it seems, puts pay to the concerns in recent years over the inactivity in children due to their interest in video games consoles. The Wii console really sets itself apart from the rest with its revolutionary motion sensitive controller, which actually requires movement in order to play the games.

The Nintendo Wii comes with the game Wii Sports, which includes tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing. In tennis you will be swinging the remote as if it were a tennis racket and flicking it up to toss the ball into the air with a quick swing to serve just like the real thing. The other Wii Sports games work in a similar way simulating controller movements for like movements onscreen. Boxing however is the only Wii Sports game that uses the nunchuk attachment and is the most physically exhausting game of them all. In order to hit your opponent in the head or body, you will have to aim high or low with your swings.

There are three different activities with each game. In training mode, you will participate in random challenges, after which you will be assigned a fitness age, based on your performance. Sound familiar? The Nintendo DS game, Brain Training comes to mind...a physical version perhaps?

The important thing here is that gamers are becoming more physically active without even realising it - you could say it has a 'kill two birds with one stone' effect, combining video game play with physical activity. Given this 'physical' nature of the Wii game play, I wouldn't be suprised if parents rushed out to buy the Nintendo Wii console just to get their kids off the sofa!

Another great thing about the Nintendo Wii is that it appeals not only to children and teens but to adults too, so its something the whole family can enjoy.

Could the Nintendo Wii revolutionize the way we play video games in the future? It will be interesting to see what Nintendo's competitors come up with next - this could be a tough one to beat!

gmtv bikini diet
Unless you have been living in mars for the last few weeks there is little doubt the success the gmtv bikini diet program has had on the nation.
Unlike a lot of other TV shows the gmtv bikini diet program has been well put together and has effected both men and women alike.

If you are want to ensure successful weight loss results you are going to discover that there are some secrets that should be kept in mind when looking for a fast weight loss diet that suits you in this incredible industry.

1. Does the diet fit into life that you lead?

You will find that you need to think about the future when you are thinking about quick weight loss. When you are cooking for a large group of people it is hard to try a diet that is extremely different from what you are used to. When you bring the entire picture into focus you will find that you have to consider trying this diet or if it is something that needs to pass by.

2. How much weight loss are you attempting to loose?

There is a good chance that you are wondering what the meaning of rapid is when looking at rapid weight loss. Truthfully you should lose no more than two pounds in a week at the most. You will find that you will be better at losing weight and keeping it off if you lose the weight gradually when you are considering this. You want to be sure that you do not fail at your diet.

3. How long do you expect to be on the diet?

When you are considering a quick weight loss diet, think about what you have to do to keep the weight off. While a crash diet can get you down to the weight that you want to be at, you'll find that it simply will not keep you there unless you take steps to make it so. Take the time to make sure that your diet is one that is fairly sustainable; can you keep it up? Will it be a burden to you?
